PROGRAM INFO- Paddling

Banook Caone Club is a family orientated club with a paddling program that attempts to fulfill the requirements of all its members. Participation and skill development is the focus of the program from Kiddie Canoe to Bantam.

Banook Canoe Club is committed to offering every athlete the opportunity to participate in local regattas. We are a member of the Canadian Canoe Association and compete in the Atlantic and National Championship each year.

All paddling programs are offered for Banook Canoe Club members only.

 

SPRING TRAINING - May 5- June 25, 2008

Training takes place under the supervision of the head coach in the spring. There are fees for these groups and you need permission from the head coach to take part. All paddlers must follow the safety rules of the club in regard to cold weather training.

Fees: ( May and June)

Part time( 3x/wk)- $60.00/month

Full Time( 4 or more /wk)- $100.00/month

Masters- $50.00

 

SUMMER PROGRAMS - June 26- August 24, 2008

Youth Program (Ages 8-16 years old)

Kids will have fun all summer in our day program. Groups are divided by ages and supervised by coaches learning water safety, basic skills in kayak and canoe and being a part of a war canoe team. Time will also be spent team building by playing games and doing fitness activities on land.

Limited to 75 participants per age group .

Requirements : Proper fitting and CSA approved PFD for 12 and younger, and the ability to pass the swim test.

Cost: $125.00, includes CCA registration fee

High Performance( Ages 11 and up)

This is for youth who have achieved a high level of skill in small boats and have a high commitment to the sport of paddling. Participants will be performing at a competitive level at the local and national regattas. As well as two sessions per day in small boats, there will be practices in war canoe and emphasis on fitness and technique. Instruction will be by experienced coaches based on ability.

Requirements: Evaluation by Head Coach for admission to the program

Cost: $200 ( 11-14 year olds)

$225 ( 15 and up)

CCA registration fees included in both

Kiddie Canoe ( Ages 4-7 years old)

A fun way to introduce your child to the sport of paddling. Sessions are held twice per week at noon for an hour. Our coaches will introduce participants to basic water safety and in very stable piccolo kayaks.

Limited to 30 participants . Requirements: proper fitting CSA approved PFD

Free to members

War Canoe ( Students only, Ages 17 – 25 )

This program is for students who will be paddling war canoe/k-4/C-4 during the summer only. They must be between the ages of 17 and 25.

Cost: $200 , which includes membership and CCA fees.

Masters

During the summer, the adult program at Banook runs Monday to Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and Saturday morning under the supervision of experienced coaches. Participants are encouraged to be in the war canoe and try various small boats. There are masters regattas during the summer and participants take part in the Canadian Masters Championships which is held at the end of August.

Cost: $135.00 , includes CCA registration fee
